Preview Match PSV Eindhoven Vs Zenit St. Petersburg 20 February 2015 the Europa League continues with a thrilling game between PSV Eindhoven and Zenit St. Petersburg. Both teams are top of their home league and will want to perform their best in Europe.
PSV is on top of the league table in the Dutch league and has a big gap between them and number 2 Ajax. They are winning their games in the league quite easily and are almost certainly going to be champions this season. The real test for them will be coming in Europe with these 2 games against a top team who have proven to be very dangerous. PSV hasn’t been convincing in Europe lately and their qualification was not easy at all. They got 8 points in their group, winning 2, drawing 2 and losing 2. Both loses were against Dinamo Moscow who are below Zenit st. Petersburg in the league and both loses were 1-0 in the 90th minute. Close games but still lost in the end against an opponent who is ranked lower than Zenit. PSV won and drew against both Estoril and Panathinaikos and therefore still qualified for the next round. PSV Eindhoven misses Rekik, who will be replaced by Bruma, who is still a solid player. PSVs form is great having won their last 10 league games.
Zenit st. Petersburg have a great squad and are also on top of their table in Russia with a 7-point lead over number 2 CSKA Moscow. They have qualified for this round by becomming third in a champions league group with Monaco, Bayer Leverkusen and Benfica. Quite an even group that didn’t have a real powerhouse in it. Zenit had some real chances to get through in the Champions League but with 3 losses, a draw and 2 wins they just managde to become third. The 2 wins against Benfica were nice but 2 losses against Bayer Leverkusen set the deal and now they have to continue in the Europa League against PSV. Their form in the league is good but the last competitive match was on the 6th of December last year. Since then they had a long winter break with only some club friendlies to get back into shape for this game. Lombaerst and Fayzulin are probably out with injuries but the squad is big enough to cope with that.
